From RVE to APEXX
The story of APEXX begins more than half a century ago. Retro Vehicle Enhancement Ltd was founded in 1968 and has grown into a respected leader in New Zealand’s automotive enhancement sector.
Over the years, the company established two strong trading names:
RVE (Retro Vehicle Enhancement) – Bespoke automotive enhancement focused on luxury passenger vehicles and van seating.
COOLBOX – dedicated to commercial transport solutions, including refrigerated truck bodies and specialist builds.
The Commercial divisions of RVE and CoolBox have expanded over recent years with shared resources and goals. Strategically it made sense to combine the commercial sides, and refocus RVE on its original intent. Hence APEXX was born with a mission: to provide the highest quality and innovative solutions, enabling effective and efficient movement of people and goods in the transport industry.
While Retro Vehicle Enhancement Limited remains the legal name of the group, the business now trades as APEXX.

WHY WE’RE DOING IT?
As a family based company, we recognized the need to help families and companies get faster and more reliable access to food and goods, and to support our tourism industry with the most luxurious levels of vehicles built in New Zealand. Our purpose is a desire to support Kiwi’s via the transport industry, moving products and people.
For our truck bodies, smaller, tighter streets and lanes are part and parcel of the urban sprawl, leaving an ever increasing need for more agile local transport needs, while current logistics cool chain manufacturers are struggling. With retailers and distributors shifting to offering online direct deliveries, this creates a demand for smaller more efficient refrigerated vehicles.
TRUSTED - FOR OVER 50 YEARS
The team has been providing solutions to the NZ Automotive Industry since 1968. With new global challenges endured from early 2020, the world experienced delays gearing up to cope with the new normal. New behaviors have evolved and have now bedded in over time.
Often reliance on contractors and courier services results in delays, impersonal service and at times wastage of perishable goods, due to multiple or extended delivery schedules. This causes frustrations beyond most of our control.
Until now… Apexx is a reliable solution. Offering deep freeze, refrigerated, chilled, ambient and dry freight options. Affordable dry freight and temperature controlled truck body solutions can now be installed to smaller mainstream Utes, mid size van cab chassis’ and full size trucks, including electric vehicle variants.
We design the perfect set up for you. Body panels are manufactured in Europe in a TUV German certified factory with ISO9001:2008 accreditation.
The most common goods transported via refrigerated food grade trucks are: meat, fish, fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Pharmaceuticals are also carried in temperature controlled environments. Medicines and vaccines are mostly in smaller batches, so less volume to cool is more efficient and energy saving. The start up and cool down time are greatly reduced, lowering carbon emissions and leaving a cleaner planet for future generations.
